Richard Nixon & Thelma Catherine Ryan – 1940
Even though she was born Thelma Catherine Ryan, she earned widespread recognition as Pat Nixon, the wife of the 37th American President, Richard Nixon. On the day of their wedding on June 21, 1940, Pat wore a dress reportedly designed by Geoffrey Beene.
As you can see, it is a dark-colored dress, but she looks happy holding their newly acquired marriage certificate at the venue, which was the Mission Inn chapel. Pat was the first of the two to pass away although, Richard followed only a year later. Their daughters are now both in their 70s.
