Snow-Free Summers By 2050
You might be shocked to find out that the Antarctic Peninsula has warmed more than 2.5 percent since the late-fifties, five times the rate of warning measured for the rest of the globe. Even though the near-surface water below the sea ice is almost freezing, the water under it is getting warmer. But this difference in temperatures paves the way for a faster and greater flow of heat upwards.
On the other hand, numerous scientists have also predicted that by the end of 2050, the region is likely to see snow-free summers. Isn’t it worrying?
