The Famous Current
The Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) is a well-known current that flows from the west to east end of Antarctica. Also known as the West Wind Drift, it is the meanest and largest ocean current. It is the reason why the region is so cold and why there is no inhabitation of animals that thrive in a warmer setting.
The current is responsible for keeping warmer waters away from the water bodies and allows the continent to maintain its huge capacity of ice caps. People who set excursions know about the drift and are quite wary of it!
