Behind This Door Lies The Solution To America’s Nuclear Waste Problem
Having read through the many nuclear bomb tests the United States has done in the past, you might be wondering what happened to all the nuclear waste these projects generated. While we can’t answer that for sure, there’s a possibility that future waste will be going behind this heavy-duty door carved into the Yucca Mountain in Nevada.
This is the site of the proposed Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository, which could cost a whopping $19 billion to build. The area was picked in the late ‘80s but is yet to be fully developed due to delays and opposition from Nevada residents and politicians.
