Portuguese Water Dog – Independent But Comical
The Portuguese Water Dogs were bred in Algarve, where they used to chase fish into nets and fetch lost or damaged tackle. They are priced between $1,500 and $2,500 per puppy. With webbed feet, Water Dogs are certainly well-suited to water and love being in it. Barack Obama famously owned Bo, a Portuguese Water Dog, and raved about his four-legged friend’s companionship and intelligence.
Nicknamed Porties, these dogs thrive on exercise, and without enough activity, they’ll become destructive. They’re adaptable, easy to train, and need water. Owners must make sure that they get enough mental stimulation too. While not wholly hypoallergenic, Portuguese Water Dogs barely shed.
